Description: Wesley Chapel, FL - Last week a Tampa man filed a complaint with the Florida Commission on Human Relations over racist remarks he said a barista made on social media about him. The filing is the first step before suing Starbucks and its employee. Attorney Nathan Carney says his client Ronnell Levatte, known as Big Gates in the music industry, has been a loyal customer at Starbucks on Bruce B Downs in Wesley Chapel. “He spent thousands of dollars in there and has routinely bought coffee for everybody in line,” said Carney. In September he says Levatte became aware of a tweet barista Dean Bui wrote, using his brother Plies’ name who is Grammy nominated rapper. “He was offended and humiliated by the allegations,” said Carney. He says Bui tweeted a statement that included profanity we can’t show you. When someone commented, asking what he orders, Bui wrote “white mocha lol”. “In addition to the tweets about my client Mr. Levatte. There were also several racist comments made by this barista,” said Carney. Carney says he reached out to Starbucks months ago to take action against the employee.
