A Memphis adult entertainment star, charged in the depraved heart murder of an Atlanta woman, was in Hinds County court Wednesday.
Natasha Stewart, also known as Pebbelz Da Model, made her initial appearance in Jackson.
Stewart is charged as an accessory in the murder of Karima Gordon of Atlanta. Gordon died in a Jackson home last spring after being injected with a counterfeit silicone that was intended to enhance her buttocks.
Stewart pleaded not guilty. She is being charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
"We talked to her and interviewed her trying to find out what her participation, which we think is minimal, so that's what were going to basically prove is that she didn't have anything to do with it," said Stewart's attorney Kevin Camp.
Prosecutors say Tracey Lynn Garner, also known as Morris Garner, injected the victim with the silicone. She is also facing murder charges in the case. Investigators believe Stewart may have introduced the victim to her. They also say Gordon paid Garner $1,500 for the procedure.
"Mrs. Stewart is being charged as an accessory to murder and wire fraud, once the defense reads the discovery they will be fully informed of what the charges are," said Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith.
Garner's trial date has been set for April 8. Stewart's trial is set for July 22. - Fox News 13
