Description: Written by City News Service - Excessive speed today caused a man in his early 20s
to lose control of his sports car, hit a center median, a parked vehicle and a
utility pole, before it flipped over several times, trapping him in the car and
severely injuring him, a police sergeant said.
The man's left arm was crushed. Paramedics rushed him to an area
hospital where he was listed in critical, but stable condition, said Sgt. Manny
Chavez in the Los Angeles Police Department's South Traffic Division.
The crash occurred about 3:30 a.m. on Normandie Avenue near the
intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Chavez said.
The unidentified man ``in his 20s'' was trapped for a time inside the
car, with his arm pinned underneath, he said.
He was the lone occupant in a "fairly new" Audi, the police sergeant said.
The crash remains under investigation by the LAPD's South Traffic
Division. LOUDLABS NEWS
